About the book
Non-Fiction Book of the Month: A Life on Our Planet by David Attenborough
A legacy-defining book from Sir David Attenborough, reflecting on his life's work, the dramatic changes to the planet he has witnessed, and what we can do to make a better future.
“I am 94. I've had an extraordinary life. It's only now that I appreciate how extraordinary. As a young man, I felt I was out there in the wild, experiencing the untouched natural world - but it was an illusion. The tragedy of our time has been happening all around us, barely noticeable from day to day - the loss of our planet's wild places, its biodiversity.”
Sir David Attenborough
After seventy-five years and over fifty books, Sir David Attenborough has decided to turn the camera on himself. What makes this particular memoir unique is his commitment to be as honest and revealing as possible while exploring the amazing truth of his life's work. From witnessing the earliest stirrings of life deep in the coral reef, his major breakthroughs in natural history filmmaking, his encounters with remote tribes and rare species, to how he's taken action to protect our planet - calling on us all to do the same.
Sir David Attenborough is Britain's best-known natural history filmmaker. His career as a naturalist and broadcaster has spanned nearly seven decades. He has established himself as the world's leading Natural History programme maker with several landmark BBC series.
